The Artist’s Voice: Firelei Báez

Presented by Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston at Online/Virtual Space

This is a virtual event held on Zoom. Registration required.
Described as “…rare in its combination of intellectual and aesthetic pleasure” by the New York TimesFirelei Báez’s work recontextualizes historical narratives and prompts their deeper consideration. The New York-based artist embraces traditional and untraditional means of making striking works of art through her investigations of Hispaniola’s histories, as seen in her wall-sized work in the ICA collection currently on view and in the monumental commission opening at the ICA Watershed this summer. Join Báez and Eva Respini, the ICA’s Barbara Lee Chief Curator, in this virtual conversation to hear about the making of these monumental works of art and more.
