"The Secret" and "Birthday," by Crystal Skillman

Presented by Entropy Theatre at Online/Virtual Space

The Secret is a short monologue that follows Luna, a housecat trying to piece together what is going on. She watches with concern as her human dons a mask, leaves at odd hours with protest signs, reads newspapers with long lists of names, and becomes more anguished by the day. When Luna encounters a special visitor, she is given the key to resilience during pandemic. But can she make her human truly understand The Secret?

In Birthday, an anxious young woman slips away from an unwelcoming birthday party in a bar only to discover a stranger sitting in the other room. Confiding old secrets and past mistakes as the party rages nearby, they find they may have a chance to forgive themselves and each other. NYTheatre.com writes, “Skillman picks up the details of the trappings of our lives and makes them sing resonantly.”
