Zakir Hussain is appreciated in both the field of percussion and in the music world at large as an international phenomenon. A classical tabla virtuoso of the highest order, Hussain plays with uncanny intuition and masterful improvisational dexterity, founded in formidable knowledge and study. Hussain's numerous historical collaborations have left a profound and lasting impact on today's global music. Hussain has recorded and performed with artists as diverse as George Harrison, Yo Yo Ma, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Joe Henderson, Van Morrison, Bela Fleck, Charles Lloyd, Herbie Hancock, and many others.

Over the years, Global Arts Live has presented Zakir Hussain more than 25 times. The first was on October 8, 1994 with Nustrat Fateh Ali Khan and Sabri Khan at Sanders Theatre in Cambridge. We are thrilled to continue to present this incredible artist with this special livestream performance.
