Derek David is a Boston-based composer, conductor, and music educator. He is the recipient of the EAMA Nadia Boulanger Institute Prize and the Morton Gould ASCAP Award for his 2011 String Quartet, as well as the 2018 recipient of the SCM Hoefer Prize for his total body of work over the past decade.
Dr. David holds a DMA from the New England Conservatory of Music, and is the Musical Director of ‘A Besere Velt’ – בעסערע װעלט - a Yiddish choral and activist group. He also a teaching fellow at Harvard University and Lecturer in Music at MIT.
