Watercolor: Working with Control and Surprise

Watercolor: Working with Control and Surprise

Presented by Weston Art & Innovation Center at Online/Virtual Space

In this virtual series we will explore conventional and unconventional approaches to watercolor painting, learning how the transparency of watercolor can be used to describe light, texture and form. Experimenting with materials, subject matter and light source, we will practice painting techniques and allow the spontaneity of accident to inform the work.

Through the use of planned exercises and free investigations, we will examine the expansive potential of watercolor. We will also look at the way other artists have approached this truly versatile medium. Students will be encouraged to pursue individual interests in their work while expanding technical skills. This class, open to those with or without experience in watercolor, will be an excellent opportunity for beginners as well as experienced painters who would like to try a new approach to picture making. Zoom link will be sent the day before class.
