The Actor's Craft, with Amy Ryan and Jason Butler Harner

Presented by Commonwealth Shakespeare Company at Online/Virtual Space

Provocative ... enlightening... entertaining.  CSC's series "The Actor's Craft" brings accomplished actors to perform scenes and discuss how actors work to bring characters to life on stage. On December 3, Amy Ryan and Jason Butler Harner explore the roles of Beatrice and Benedick, the couple at the center of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.  The two fiery and independent adversaries gradually come to realize what the audience knows from the beginning, as the couple’s turbulent relationship turns into love. It’s very much a modern love story, as the characters attempt to navigate issues of strength vs. vulnerability, independence vs. connection.

Amy Ryan is best known for her Oscar-nominated performance in the 2007 film Gone Baby Gone, along with recurring TV roles in NBC’s The Office, and HBO’s The Wire and In Treatment.  Jason Butler Harner has an extensive stage, including playing the leading role in CSC's 1997 production of Romeo and Juliet, and appears in the TV series NEXT with John Slattery and the Netflix series Ozark.
