There is a lot going on in our lives right now! Sometimes it can be hard to find the space for expressing your thoughts and ideas in a creative format, and yet doing so can make us feel much more connected to ourselves and to the people around us. Please join us for an afternoon of self-expression and creative fun. We will draw on all of our senses to feel more alert and aware of the world around us and within us. We will be using found objects to write our own short stories, create a group collaborative poem, and engage in some energizing improvisational and experiential activities to loosen up our minds and get our ideas flowing freely. No prior writing experience is needed. Just a willingness to be open to trying new ideas and to being a supportive member of the class. We will meet in-person, enjoying the warmth of the sun and comfort of the trees around us.
Please bring:
Two or three objects that have personal significance to you
A flavorful snack -- we will be using this in one of our sensory writing exercises. (We won’t be sharing snacks because of Covid)
Paper and a pen or pencil
Wear warm clothes!
For qualifying students, financial aid is available. We do not want a financial barrier to prevent an interested and curious student from joining the class.
Materials: You’ll need a journal for writing and some writing implements. There is no mandatory in-person attendance, and it is up to the discretion of the student if they attend in person.
Cost: $30
