Julliard student Roric Cunningham plays Bach’s Cello Suite No. 3, BWV 1009 in the historic Methuen Memorial Music Hall.
Roric Cunningham began playing the cello at the age of 12 in the public school system. After being self-taught for two years, he enrolled in the Manchester Community Music School on a full scholarship, studying with Harel Geitheim. In 2017, Roric won both of the major student competitions in NH: The Portsmouth Student Concerto Competition and The Lakes Region Concerto Competition. As of recently, he was the principal cellist of the Dino Anagnost Youth Symphony orchestra at Manchester Community Music School, a member of the New Hampshire Philharmonic, and was principal cellist of the 2017-19 NH All-State Music Festival. He has also played with Symphony NH, Portsmouth Symphony, Nashua Chamber Orchestra, and Keene Chamber Orchestra. He recently was named to the National Youth Orchestra for a second year, which played at Carnegie and other world famous halls such as the Royal Albert Hall, Concertgebouw, and others in Europe. Along with many recitals, he has soloed with the Portsmouth, Lakes Region, and Dino Anagnost Symphonies. Currently studying at Juilliard, Roric studies with Natasha Brofsky.
