Sketching with Colored Pencils: Online Workshop

Sketching with Colored Pencils: Online Workshop

Presented by deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum at Online/Virtual Space

Colored pencil is a versatile medium – we’ll discuss different ways of using them, look at some examples, and begin to experiment with them together. Students in this relaxed, creative workshop will come away with new skills and methods for drawing. All skill levels are welcome.

9 x 12 or 11 x 14 multi-use sketchbook
2 drawing pencils of different hardnesses (HB and 2B)
1 grey kneaded eraser
1 white plastic eraser
Pencil sharpener
Colored pencils (regular colored pencils, rather than water soluble ones; some good brands are Prismacolor, Derwent, Caran D’Ache, Koh-I‐Noor, but other artist-grade pencils are fine).
Optional: In addition to, or instead of, a “regular” sketchbook, some sheets of multimedia paper, watercolor paper (hot and/or cold press) or bristol board would be good to experiment with different surfaces.

(We know it’s hard to get new art supplies just now, so feel free to join with whatever you have.)
