Multiverse: Octave of Light Album Release

Multiverse: Octave of Light Album Release

Presented by Museum of Science, Boston at Museum of Science, Boston

Multiverse is an interdisciplinary concert and event series combining music and science in live performance. After a sold-out smash performance of Hidden Worlds in the Charles Hayden Planetarium last fall, and two groundbreaking digital events this summer, the Museum teams up with Multiverse once again for a new virtual event this fall to celebrate the release of their new album Octave of Light!

Octave of Light is a full-length album of exoplanet music by composer David Ibbett. David has sonified (light->sound) their spectra into a musical language of molecules and exoplanets, woven into music for live ensemble. Soprano Beth Sterling, violinist Amelia Sie, and the composer on piano/electronics are accompanied by stunning astrophysics visuals created by the Charles Hayden Planetarium's animation team.

The musicians are joined by Guest Scientist Dr. Clara Sousa-Silva, who will take us on a journey from the beginnings to the future of exoplanet science, including her own cutting-edge research at MIT and the recent discovery of phosphine on Venus!

Will chemical combinations be the key to discovering life on another world?
