Drawing is an essential skill for any visually creative endeavor: a good drawing is an end in itself, and also a foundational element of works across all media. Come sharpen your skills in this 3-hour workshop! Students will gain an understanding of materials and mark-making, practice techniques, and then venture out into Union Square for some urban sketching. This is a beginner-friendly workshop, open to all skill levels.
Please bring these materials:
1. Set of drawing pencils, or purchase through this event when you buy your ticket! Any set will work as long as it has at least one soft B pencil, one HB, and one hard H.
2. A sturdy sketchbook
3. An eraser or erasers, whatever kind you prefer
4. Optional: a straight edge or ruler
5. Optional: Any items that will facilitate drawing outside will be helpful, such as a clipboard or drawing board or even a folding stool.
6. A mask to wear!
Students should be prepared to carry their materials and walk for up to 1/3 of a mile and to draw standing up for and extended period of time.
