The Black Lives Matter Movement and the Fight for Racial Justice

The Black Lives Matter Movement and the Fight for Racial Justice

Presented by Martha's Vineyard Book Festival & Author Series at Online/Virtual Space

The Black Lives Matter movement has been fueled by the country's punitive history of incarceration and government-sanctioned violence toward African Americans and powered by the pervasive presence of social media.  It has evolved from a twitter hashtag into this generation’s civil rights movement. Join us on Thursday August 13th at 7:30 when activist and scholar Barbara Phillips, writer and professor Kiese Laymon, and teacher and historian David Blight join Kenneth Mack of Harvard University to discuss The Black Lives Matter Movement and The Fight for Racial Justice.
