Watercolor and Stitching: Online Workshop

Watercolor and Stitching: Online Workshop

Presented by deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum at Online/Virtual Space

This class will explore the wide range of options for drawing, mark-making, and fine details that can be created with watercolors and stitching. In this two session course, you will create a series of small pieces. In week 1 we will learn a variety of ways to work with watercolor to create different abstract compositions. Taking an expressive approach, our paintings will explore the range of transparency and opacity that can be achieved with watercolor.

In week 2, we will stitch into our paper pieces to add texture and variety, following the flowing lines and textures in your compositions from week 1. You will learn the basics of stitching into paper and a variety of stitches including seed stitch, couching stitch and threaded running stitch.

The workshop will be taught via Zoom. The limited number of spaces means that students will get real-time, individual feedback on their work. Students will be sent a direct link to join the zoom meeting and prior to the workshop.
