Poetry 101: You are a Poet and You Know it!

Poetry 101: You are a Poet and You Know it!

Presented by Arlington Center for the Arts at Online/Virtual Space

You don't need to be the greatest literary mind since Shakespeare to get a grasp on poetry-- the written word takes so many unique forms, and if you've always wanted to tap into it, I'm here to guide you through some basics. This workshop does NOT require extensive poetry knowledge-- as renowned poet Mary Oliver once said, "You do not have to be good." In this workshop, I'll guide the crafting of all sorts of poetry: from free-verse to structured, from sonnet to slam, culminating in the presentation of a short portfolio to show off your unique literary voice! This course welcomes ages 10-14 and is online.

She enjoys engaging students in fun and creative activities, guiding them through rehearsals, and preparing them for performances. Most recently, her work with History Alive, Inc. has expanded her abilities to include historical interpretation in the theatrical arts.
