The Umbrella Arts Center is now registering for a two-month session of arts classes and workshops in a variety of media.

Although The Umbrella has cancelled all in-person arts instruction for now due to the coronavirus, it has spent the last three months innovating The Umbrella @Home program, with virtual arts instruction delivered through multiple distance-learning methods and platforms.

The new session offers courses in visual, performing and outdoor public arts for adults, teens and kids, designed by over a dozen experienced teachers. The Umbrella's expanded Ceramics program offers virtual and video instruction, as well as local curbside clay pickup and drop-off kiln firing services at 40 Stow Street. Performing Arts offerings range from dance classes and theater audition coaching to music theory. Popular digital classes include Digital Photography, Claymation Animation, and hands-on Collaging Zoom workshops. The Umbrella Arts & Environment program has expanded its popular outdoors arts and nature exploration programs, such as Ninjas in Nature, and through partnering with Wild Child Artdoors.

The Umbrella has also rolled out an expansive range of flexible @Home virtual summer arts camp alternatives in Visual, Performing and Nature arts. The organization has announced that is inviting all class and camp participants to contribute their best creations to a summer's-end exhibition, Discover Your Arts Umbrella Families Showcase.
