Learn Online: Metal Fabrication 101 – Build a table

Presented by Artisan's Asylum at Artisan's Asylum

Class Description
Moving beyond the basic operation of tools and into actually building metalwork projects is where many students get hung up on the path to becoming a metalworking master. Streaming from the Artisan’s Asylum metal shop, Metal Fabrication 101 will help students take that next step. Students will be able to interact with the instructor to ask questions in real-time as he works on camera to build a table from steel tubing using the tools at Artisan’s Asylum, while also demonstrating the same techniques using the common tools you might have in your garage.

Class Goals
The goal for the class is to improve outcomes for students’ own projects by developing intermediate-level metal fabrication skills, including surface prep, part fit-up and alignment, weld sequencing and shrinkage, and finish work. We’ll focus on solutions to many common mistakes that beginners make on their metal projects, based on the instructor’s observations after watching hundreds of noobs getting started in the metalworking shop at Artisan’s Asylum.
