Take A Line For A Walk: an online exhibition

Presented by Musa Collective at Musa Collective

Artists are naturally resourceful, gathering materials, knowledge, and energy from all over, and, in times of crisis, from way deep down. Over the last few months, members of Musa Collective have been meeting virtually to share how the conditions of quarantine have affected their practices in and out of their studios, garages, and kitchens. Their conversations led them to discover a common instinct to refocus and simplify the process of making work, and to turn to drawing as a way to continue working with the major disruptions they are experiencing.

The title of the exhibition, Take a Line for a Walk, is based on a quote by Paul Klee: “A drawing is simply a line going for a walk.” The title refers to how drawing reveals itself through the process of making as a means of discovery and communication in its purest form. The title also reflects the idea that though we are all homebound, our minds and creativity are free to wander and explore. The exhibit will contain one to three drawings by each Musa member plus one to three drawings by an artist invited by each Musa member. No restrictions have been placed on the size or media used in the work and each artist was left to define what drawing means to them.
