CRISPR Joins the Fight Against COVID-19

CRISPR Joins the Fight Against COVID-19

Presented by Museum of Science, Boston at Museum of Science, Boston

Dr. Feng Zhang, core member of the Broad Institute, Investigator at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research, the James and Patricia Poitras Professor of Neuroscience at MIT, and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator

CRISPR has swept news headlines for its ability to improve human health in revolutionary ways. Although best known as genome editing tools, CRISPR-based technologies can also improve human health in other ways, including aiding in the detection of infectious diseases. Dr. Feng Zhang has pioneered the development of Cas9-based technologies and has continued to expand the CRISPR toolbox by adding other systems, including Cas12-based systems and also Cas13-based systems that target RNA, both particularly well suited for diagnostic applications.

Join the Museum of Science and Dr. Zhang for this one-night-only virtual event to hear firsthand his research on CRISPR and his recent work using CRISPR to test for COVID-19. Dr. Zhang will also discuss additional ways he and other scientists are working to fight COVID-19.

This program is free thanks to the generosity of the Lowell Institute.
