Participants will learn the basics of the “language” of visual arts: from form and composition to symbolism, perspective, and material.
When you go to an art museum, do you wonder what other people see when they look at the artwork? Do you feel like you're missing something? Try learning about art through the eyes of an artist! Join teaching artist Zoe Schein in this program that combines art history, art analysis, and art making, with the aim of helping participants engage more deeply with the art they encounter. Participants will learn the basics of the “language” of visual arts: from form and composition to symbolism, perspective, and material. Through short, no-skills-required art projects, as well as virtual tours of museums and online resources, participants will put themselves in the artist’s shoes to better understand the questions artists ask and the decisions they make.
