Berklee Theater Arts Collaborative presents “Journey To The West”, a new musical created by BTAC Artistic Director, Rene Pfister in collaboration with other students; Performed on May 1st, 2020 by the Theater for Young Audiences Ensemble.
Come join the Berklee Musical Theater For Young Audiences Ensemble as they present an original student adaptation of this classic Chinese tale, Journey To The West .In a 21st century Chinese-American household, two siblings, Emi and Brian along with their friends, Charlotte and Chris find a book entitled Journey to the West that magically brings them into the Chinese story where Tripitaka and his mismatched team; Pigsy, Sandy, and Wu Kong, are on an action-packed adventure to find and deliver the scriptures from India back to China dodging demons along the way.
Each spring, Berklee students (the Theater for Young Audiences Ensemble) bring to life a new piece from traditional children's literature that becomes an original musical to present for Boston Public Schools, charter schools, and families. Led by the composer and playwright Rene Pfister, the artistic director of the Berklee Theater Arts Collaborative, this new initiative is bringing the joy of children's theater to Berklee with a soundtrack that everyone can sing along to.
