Award-winning alto saxophonist & composer presents his rock-infused jazz music with an all-star New York / Boston quintet, performing original compositions and adaptations of songs like “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “Wichita Lineman.”
Pete Robbins, award-winning alto saxophonist and composer, presents his rock-infused jazz music with an all-star New York / Boston quintet, performing original compositions and adaptations of songs like "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Wichita Lineman." at Littleton's Indian Hill Music on Saturday, March 7 at 7:30pm.
Robbins has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, National Public Radio, and many other outlets. He has led his band at a large number of jazz festivals, concert halls, and clubs both domestically and internationally, and was a Brooklyn resident until about four years ago when he relocated to Newburyport, near his hometown of Andover, MA.
"Several of Robbins' tunes are flag-wavers, teeming with broad, catchy melodies. That's at odds with the very intricate lines thread together to create such themes, and that dynamic is why [his ensemble] is so intriguing....As a horn player, Robbins has liquid timbre that can remind just how pretty modern jazz can be." (Jim Macnie - The Village Voice)
