Caribbean Ancestors: Surfing Anglican Records Online

Caribbean Ancestors: Surfing Anglican Records Online

Presented by American Ancestors and NEHGS at American Ancestors Research Center

Whether you are researching early colonial families involved in the West Indies, enslaved Africans or more recent arrivals to America, Caribbean Ancestors will start you on an exciting journey into your past.

This workshop, led by genealogist Sandra Taitt-Eaddy, highlights documentary evidence, records and resources specific to the “English speaking islands in the Caribbean." The most accessible and useful of these is a collection of Anglican Church registers spanning hundreds of years. For most of the British colonial era, the church created these vital records for the state. Join Taitt-Eaddy to investigate various time periods, and identify the data the church chose to collect. She'll include tips and techniques for interpreting these records and how to make use of what you find. With Caribbean Ancestors and Anglican Church Registers, participants can make discoveries about the Caribbean’s complicated history as they learn about their own ancestry and heritage. Bring your own personal device and surf with Sandra Taitt-Eaddy.
