Masterworks Chorale: Ernest Bloch, Sacred Service

Presented by Masterworks Chorale at Old South Church in Boston

Join Masterworks Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Kevin Leong, at Boston’s historic Old South Church for Ernest Bloch’s beautiful Sacred Service, an artistically groundbreaking setting of the Hebrew liturgy for the Sabbath. To honor the 350th anniversary of Old South Church, we will also present Lukas Foss’s majestic Behold, I Build an House and Randall Thompson’s classic Alleluia, both written to commemorate important beginnings in our area—the openings of Boston University’s Marsh Chapel and the Tanglewood Music Center. The concert will feature organist Ross Wood and bass-baritone Ian Pomerantz, a professional singer and scholar of Jewish music.
