New York-based pianist and composer Jason Yeager presents music from his newest album, New Songs of Resistance (Outside in Music), which features electrifying arrangements of classic nueva canción repertoire from Argentina, Chile, and Brazil, as well as original compositions that speak to the troubling socio-cultural moment we are living through currently. His chamber-jazz ensemble features some of the top musicians in the Boston area, including several Berklee and Tufts faculty, such as Grammy winner Mark Walker, drums; Fernando Huergo, bass; Naseem Alatrash, cello; Erini, voice; and others. An honors graduate of the Tufts/New England Conservatory Double Degree Program, Jason is Assistant Professor of piano at Berklee College of Music, and was an International Relations major during his time at Tufts. This concert is preceded by a lecture on the music at 12pm in Varis Lecture Hall.
