The McMullen Museum invites visitors to participate in a conversation in the galleries pertaining to borders, migration, and identity.
In conjunction with Indian Ocean Current: Six Artistic Narratives (January 27–May 31, 2020), the McMullen Museum invites visitors to participate in a conversation in the galleries facilitated by co-curator Prasannan Parthasarathi and three Boston College professors, Barry Schneider, Kalpana Seshadri, and Andrew Grant. Inspired by various artworks within the exhibition, the conversation will explore the topic of borders, primarily discussing what they are, the purposes they serve, and the various effects they have on different populations. The hope is that this topic will spark a larger conversation about the role borders play in our lives, and how although these physical barriers are often spoken about in terms of funding and construction, they also shape ideas about immigration, citizenship, and identity.
