We tried. But we're finally calling this one.  ArtsEmerson's summer engagement of Drumfolk, the sensational production by Step Afrika!, will not go on as scheduled.

The City of Boston has cancelled summer events and have asked everyone else to do the same.  Since the beginning of this health ordeal, every decision we have made has been to protect the health of the patrons, staff, and artists that make up the ArtsEmerson community. And this decision is no different.

You're receiving this advance notice because we've had meaningful, and much appreciated, conversations about the potential for partnership in support of success for Step Afrika! in Boston.  Within the next couple of days, we will be sending an email notification to all those who are currently holding tickets for the engagement, offering several options -- donating the value of tickets to ArtsEmerson, keeping money on account for use on any future engagement, or receiving a full refund.  Of course, we are appreciative of anyone who is able to choose one of the first two options, as that support assists in our current efforts to remain strong and sustainable until we all can gather in person again.  And we also understand that we are in the midst of an economic crisis as well as a health crisis, and we also appreciate that many find themselves in the position where getting that cash back means having more resources to take care of essential needs.
