Youth in a Roman Field, a genre-crossing, folk-leaning band fronted by Claire Wellin (of San Fermin) comes to Club Passim after last playing Boston in 2015. They are joined by local songwriter Liv Greene for a night of female-led, progressive folk.
Youth in a Roman Field wants to help you break the rules. The genre-crossing project of singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Claire Wellin (of the art-rock powerhouse San Fermin, Apartment Sessions, and 'Once' on Broadway) incorporates sounds of "Appalachia, cayenne pepper, and ghosts" to create an original, progressive sound with sweeping vocals and haunting strings at the forefront. Hailing from Queens, NY, recent releases include the EP 'Suits for Children' (2016), the LP 'Storm Conductor' (2018), and the single 'If We Go' (2019). www.youthinaromanfield.com
They are joined by the Boston-based Americana singer-songwriter Liv Greene, whose award-winning songwriting both soothes and challenges in one fell swoop. In addition to recently recording her first full-length album and teaching at Passim School of Music and Interlochen Arts Camp, she is currently a senior at New England Conservatory of Music, studying Contemporary Improvisation on guitar and voice. www.livgreene.com
