A Cape Codder in China: China Sings To Me 中国对我唱歌

Presented by Cape Cod Museum of Art at Cape Cod Museum of Art

Andrew Singer grew up on Cape Cod dreaming of China. This passion led him to study and live in China during college for one year in 1986. He will speak about his recent book “China Sings to Me” which details his experiences in China before its phenomenal transformation over the past thirty years.

Singer, who has translated secret documents for the C.I.A., will delight you with fascinating, poignant, and at times funny, insights about Chinese culture. Andrew will also talk about his latest research into the Qing Dynasty and the Emperor’s obsession with the arts. The Emperor Hongli was a linguist, a prolific poet, and a great patron of Chinese painting, porcelain, jade, glass, enamel, silk, and more. Along with a PowerPoint presentation, there will be a book signing and reception afterwards.

Andrew Singer is the author of China Sings To Me:  A Journey into the Middle Kingdom and Myself  (Station Square Media, 2018).  Currently, Andrew works as a land use and environmental permitting lawyer on Cape Cod.
