For the final concert of the season, Tufts Symphony Orchestra presents a wide variety of stellar works, old and new. vFirst, Kareem Roustom’s Aleppo Songs is a colorful depiction of urban folk songs from Syria. Next on the program is John McDonald’s Braced, arranged specifically for TSO. This tension-filled piece is constantly preparing the audience for something to happen, something that never will happen. Following these pieces, Thomas Risoleo '21, the 2019 Concerto Competition winner, solos with the orchestra in Grieg’s ravishing Piano Concerto in A Minor. The concert, and TSO's season, comes to a magnificent close with Tchaikovsky’s classic Symphony No. 5 in E Minor, a journey from the depths of despair to triumph over fate.
