The Stroll is a collaborative event presented by Newton’s local arts and businesses to create an enchanting holiday tradition for the community. Strolling along Washington Street throughout the day, you can enjoy strolling carolers and musicians.
Get into the Holiday Spirit in West Newton on Saturday, at the annual Arts Stroll & Shop, presented by The Newton Cultural Alliance, with a generous sponsorship by the Village Bank. As you stroll along Washington Street throughout the day, you can listen to strolling carolers and musicians: The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Newton Choir, New Philharmonia Orchestra, Suzuki School of Newton, The Dotologists, and White Collar Crime will be visiting our participating merchants and strolling the streets to entertain while you shop. Browse the beautiful handmade gifts at The Paper Mouse, Artitudes and Hipstitch; and enjoy some free cider at Sweet Tomatoes, or a hot cup of coffee and a treat at L’Aroma Café. You can even visit with Santa between 10:30 and 12:30 at the ‘Stuff a Cruiser’ in Captain Ryan Park. Please bring an unwrapped present to benefit the Village Bank/City of Newton Holiday Gift Drive, and put it right into the police cruiser! There are also toy collection boxes at the Police Station, Joanne Langione Dance Center and the Village Bank.
Exciting addition! Don’t miss the entertainment and activities at “The Creative Space” at 1239 Washington Street – featuring dancers from Creative Dance Steps Studio at 11am, exhibitions of photographs by Howard Fineman, paintings by Marcia Cooper and musicians galore! Green Newton will be hosting some fun winter-themed activities especially for kids, and Daisy Does Art will be there to sell handmade holiday items that kids will love! The strolling musicians will be stopping by to perform there, as well as an Instrument Petting Zoo, to let the kids (and adults) try out instruments! Pick up a brochure at any of the West Newton merchants for some special coupons, bundle up, and enjoy all the fun!
