Art exhibition and Book signing featuring the work of 35 Haitian artists living in New England.
The Mayor\'s Office of Arts and Culture is proud to present Migrating Colors V, an exhibit featuring the work of 35 Haitian artists living in New England as they commemorate the seventh year of the Haiti earthquake of 2010 that caused more than 230,000 deaths. The exhibit will also celebrate the release of the book, \"Migrating Colors: Haitian Art in New England.\" The art exhibition is sponsored by the City of Boston and the Migrating Colors concept is a culmination of the collaboration between the Haitian Artists Assembly of Massachusetts and its partners Brockton Arts, In Sight Art Gallery, and Afro Caribbean Gallery.
A reception and book signing is scheduled for Friday January 12 at 5 p.m. at Boston City Hall, the exact date of the Haiti earthquake of 2010, to not only commemorate this moment with friends of the community but also to show the resiliency of Haitian culture. Proceeds from the exhibition and the book are also allocated to support an art project in Haiti, in the City of Jacmel that was damaged by the earthquake.
