The Artist's Voice: Trevor Paglen and Jimena Canales

Presented by Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston at The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston

Artist and recent MacArthur “Genius” award recipient Trevor Paglen’s diverse art practice often resembles investigative reporting, with methods ranging from photographing drones in the sky to launching a low-orbit satellite he calls the “first space sculpture.” His work, he says, focuses on “showing what invisibility looks like.” Join Paglen, whose work is featured in Art in the Age of the Internet, 1989 to Today, as he introduces his ambitious art-making processes and shares his thoughts on surveillance mechanisms with Jimena Canales, historian and author of The Physicist and the Philosopher: Einstein, Bergson, and the Debate That Changed Our Understanding of Time and A Tenth of a Second. Moderated by Eva Respini, Barbara Lee Chief Curator.
