Boston’s community of dancers and teachers have banded together to give our city access to online dance and movement classes. While we can’t sweat it out in the studio in person, these offerings are perfect for getting your heart rate up, inspiring creativity, and making connections through dance.

Masacote Entertainment

Boston’s beloved salsa experts are offering virtual classes in a variety of Afro-Latin dance styles, meditation, and more! As their specialty is reveling in the relationship between music and dance, these classes will light up your Spring and empower you into the Summer. Their Salsa Stage 1/1+ program begins a new session, Tuesday, May 5!

Urbanity Dance

Urbanity is offering free classes on Instagram Live each week. Virtual Youth Classes include Hip-Hop for ages 6-12 and a Friday Family Dance party on the last Friday of each month. The Virtual Adult Drop-Ins rage from contemporary dance to masterclasses – today’s class features Lady Gaga and SNL dance alum Casey Sheehan!

Afrobeat Fit

This Tremont Street gem is hosting online Sweat Sessions that get their power from the music and movement of African artists and influencers. Their 60-minute classes teach you the foundations of Afro movement, activate your core, and condition your body within a joyful and encouraging environment.

Artist 2 Artist

Arranged by the Director of Studio@550 in Central Square, Callie Chapman, this relatively new platform serves as an online portal to connect Boston artists directly with our community. Their featured classes include conditioning, meditation, and Flamenco. Know anyone who teaches dance or art online? Artists can submit their offerings to be featured among these fantastic resources for staying creative and active at home.

The Dance Complex

Get-in a great at-home sweat with Quarantine Aerobics, Modern, and SambaViva, all free online classes from Dance Complex! Their DC Live virtual content also includes Coffee Hours and Fireside Chats with Boston-based dancers, Artistic Directors, and professionals who are offering expertise about what it’s like to dance in Boston.

Boston Mobile Dance Studio

This group of movement coaches is used to traveling across our community to bring social dance everywhere it can possibly go, but we’re lucky that they’re mobile on the internet, too! You can take your pick from DanceHall workouts, a 90’s-themed class, Party Dance, and more whether you’re a fan of grooving or looking to get more comfortable as a dancer. Their Dance Where You Are program is also available for sign-up online.

Lion’s Jaw

Known for their annual Performance and Dance Festival here in Boston, Lion’s Jaw is a hotspot for online conversations, performances, and classes for all things experimental dance. Their online classes feature previous and future faculty from the festival. Up next is their Floorwork Flow class with LAJAMARTIN, which will be all about tapping into musicality and rhythm to explore a dancer’s momentum.

The CONcept ARTists

This talented team of local dancers is hosting sessions online on Sundays and Wednesdays where you can learn some of their challenging hip-hop choreography. Their moves will challenge your conceptions of what your body can do, and with a new teacher on each session, you’ll be moving differently each time you take the class. Bonus: the CONartists also move to beats from Boston-based musicians you can get to know!
