America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Parade Celebration

 

First, America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Parade – (11/23) is an annual tradition featured each year at the birthplace of Thanksgiving, Plymouth, Massachusetts on the weekend before Thanksgiving. The Saturday morning Celebration festivities begin at 10:30 am on the Plymouth Massachusetts historic waterfront with an opening ceremony featuring a variety of top-quality entertainment. The parade steps off at 11:00 am from Benny’s Plaza Court Street.

Immediately following the Thanksgiving holiday, visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy the Friday After Thanksgiving Chain Reaction at MIT – (11/29) The MIT Museum’s Chain Reaction event is a one-of-a-kind engineering feat that must be seen to be believed! You can attend as a spectator, or you can build your own Rube Goldberg-esque link and be part of a giant chain reaction at our fun and family-friendly event!

 

Kick-off the holiday season with Santa and his elves at Macy’s Downtown Boston for family fun activities like face painting, balloon artists, and take a pic with the spirit of the holidays himself, Santa Claus.  At 5 PM enjoy special performances by the Tufts University Beezelbubs, Urban Nutcracker, and singer-songwriter, Natasha Bedingfield.  Peruse the dazzling holiday windows and light up the sky with our Christmas tree at 7 PM.

 

On the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, another unique holiday tradition takes place in Quincy when Santa Claus parachutes from a plane into town to greet children of all ages. (11/30) Characters from the parade greet children as they await Santa Claus’ arrival by parachute at Pageant Field, One Merrymount Parkway, starting at noon.

To kick off the holiday festivities, come out and enjoy the sounds of the season at the annual Boston Christmas Tubas (11/30) performance. Who can resist an enormous group of tubas belting out holiday favorites!? You can also enjoy the colorful lights Faneuil Hall’s seasonal BLINK! Every ½ hour after 4:30 pm from (11/25-12/31), the marketplace will be filled with holiday music choreographed to a spectacular holiday light show.

 

Just across the street, the Greenway Carousel holiday light show is another fun holiday light display on the carousel itself. Don’t miss this unique spin on seasonal fun and other Boston events in December.
