The Franc Graham Band, a Plough & Stars favorite in the mid ‘90s and more recently of Toad and The Lizard Lounge, has re-formed and is releasing their new CD, Steady, with a strong lineup of Boston greats: Franc Graham on guitar and vocals, Jerome Deupree (Morphine) on drums, Chris Rival (David Johnston) on guitar, Richard Gates (Dennis Brennan) on bass, Pacey Foster (DJ Pace) on turntables, vocals, harp and other accessories.
The band’s offbeat and “devilishly addictive” (Instant Magazine) sound has been described by the Boston Globe as “Immensely underrated… cool and commanding… an unusually rich blend of singer-songwriter rock…" and the Weekly Dig declared that Graham’s voice “evokes PJ Harvey without mimicry… showcased nicely amongst the turntables, B-3’s and clavinets… It’ll sweep you up like the fall wind." And, opening for Lucinda Williams in 2001 Lucinda simply declared herself “a Franc Graham convert.”
