The Philharmonic Society of Arlington, Inc., established in 1933, is a distinctly different nonprofit community musical organization in the Greater Boston area; different because it consists of three performing groups, The Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra, The Arlington-Belmont Chorale, and The Arlington-Belmont Chamber Chorus all under one banner. Membership in the Orchestra and the Chorale is open to ALL musicians without formal auditions and new singers and players are always welcome. The PSA’s Concert season, which runs from September to June, includes eight concerts, in which our three groups perform both individually and together. Aside from our performances, one of our more important facets is the PSA’s Young Artist Competition (YAC) though which we hope to encourage and provide exposure to promising young musical talents. Originally this was a local competition, however in recent years our contestants have come from as far as Illinois and Kentucky. We are proud to have given thousands of young musicians the challenge of auditioning and competing over the forty-plus years we have sponsored this competition.
