Headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland, the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) is devoted to the preservation of traditional Scottish country dancing and to introducing the joy of dancing jigs, reels, and strathspeys to anyone who like to dance. Unlike Highland dancing, which is primarily a demanding performance genre, country dancing is social dancing and can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities. The RSCDS. has branches all over the world, and Boston Branch, founded in 1947 is the oldest overseas Branch. We are dedicated to sharing the Scottish dance, music, and culture and sponsor dancing classes, Hihgland Balls, and concerts of Scottishmusic and dance throughout New England.
