New Philharmonia Orchestra

The New Philharmonia Orchestra (New Phil,) is a 75-member, regional orchestra comprised of residents from Newton, Massachusetts and the greater-Boston area. Founded in 1995, the motto, MUSIC FOR ALL, serves as the organization’s mission. New Phil strives to provide its non-professional players the opportunity to achieve a high level of ensemble performance not otherwise available. The late conductor and BSO violinist Ronald Knudsen served as Music Director from the Orchestra’s inception through his untimely death last March.  The renowned Venezuelan musician, Francisco Noya, serves as Conductor and Artistic Advisor for the 2015-2016 season. The orchestra presents three pairs of Classics concerts and Family Discovery Concerts. Education initiatives provide learning and performing opportunities through youth participation in Family Discovery Concerts and joint performances with children from public and private schools in Boston, and the greater-Newton area.
