Henry Godfrey Jazz Orchestra

The HGJO is a big band made up of Boston area jazz musicians, led by drummer and award-winning composer Henry Godfrey. The band performs original music written by Godfrey, or by members of the band and arranged by Godfrey for the band. Their sound is modern and fresh, transforming the techniques of the great big band writers into grooving, eclectic pieces dealing heavily in lyrical melodies with surprising harmony. Sophomore release Attitude & Gratitude (2022) received rave reviews and includes the award-winning track “We’ll Get There.” Reviewer Raul da Gama proclaims “Godfrey’s brand of hyper-Romanticism holds nothing back… an orchestral recording to remember.”
