White Witch: A One-Act Monodrama

White Witch is based on the 19th century Jamaican legend of Annie Palmer, a woman notoriously known as “The White Witch of Rose Hall.” It is a tale of voodoo, murder, and revenge, but above all, hubris that ultimately receives its just reward.

Angela Jajko is Annie Palmer, the White Witch. Jajko is a familiar face to Boston audiences for her work with Opera New Hampshire, Greater Worcester Opera, Opera Providence, and Granite State Opera among others.

She is accompanied by Abe Finch on percussion. Finch is an active performer in the Boston area classical, jazz and theater organizations. He serves on the faculties of Salem State University, the Groton School and Philips Academy in Andover.

This one-act opera has music composed by Brian Schober with a libretto by Joan Ross Sorkin.

Prelude Conversation – There will be a Prelude Conversation with the creators prior to the opening night performance on October 30 at 6:30 pm.

NOTE: Contains mature themes and may be inappropriate for audience members under the age of 13.The performance runs approximately forty minutes. There will be no intermission.

Tickets: $20 general, $15 seniors and non-SSU students 18 and above, Salem State students and those under 18 receive free admission.
