To Kill a Mockingbird - The Migford Street Players

Though staggered by the Broadway production of To Kill a Mockingbird’s Cease and Desist Letter, the tenacious Mugford Street Players, led by Artistic Director John Fogle and producer Greg Mancusi-Ungaro — with a generous assist from the Gloucester Stage Company — have defied the odds. They will present their production of To Kill a Mockingbird, opening March 29, 2019 and playing for three weekends, at Gloucester Stage Company’s historic theatre in Gloucester, MA.   The production had been slated to open on March 1 at the Marblehead Little Theatre until a cease and desist letter from the Broadway producers arrived.   The production which was one week away from opening came to a halt.  

The jubilant cast and crew received the news that the show would indeed go on, with a new opening night set for March 29. Amazingly, only a few members of the cast have conflicts with the new dates, and other cast members are stepping up to cover their colleague’s parts when they cannot be present.  Set Designer Bruce Greenwald is working with Fogle to reimagine the show in the very different performance space at Gloucester Stage Company. All of the scenic elements and the staging of the play will need to be reconsidered. “Our first rehearsal of the New Mockingbird has already taken place,” said Fogle. “I am so excited to have this show come to life!”
