THE VENEZUELAN SONG BOOK KICKOFF

During the decade of the 70s, Aldemaro Romero, (the creator of the Venezuelan music genre: the New Wave) recorded some of his compositions in a Latin American New Wave album in English. At the same time, the Venezuelan harpist and composer Juan Vicente Torrealba, recorded bilingual (Spanish-Japanese) versions of his songs together with the Japanese soprano Nikari Niki. Both recordings were an innovation in Venezuelan musical history.

Almost half a century later, it is propitious to follow the example of Romero and Torrealba. It is time to innovate again. We are more than three million Venezuelans around the world, learning new cultures, but also contributing to our cultural heritage. So, this Venezuelan song book album is an effort to bring the English-speaking public closer to the lyrics that make up the Venezuelan songs.
