The Makanda Project's 2019 summer concert series on the lawn of First Church in Roxbury begins July 13. In addition to two sets of music by the acclaimed creative big band, there will be a drum circle led by Cornell Coley, activities for children, arts and crafts vendors, and food. The musicians are Kurtis Rivers, Paavo Carey, Arni Cheatham, Seth Meicht, and Charlie Kohlhase (saxophones); Haneef Nelson and Ku-umba Frank Lacy (trumpets); Alfred Patterson, Tyler Bonilla, and Bill Lowe

In the event of rain, the concert will take place inside the church.
