The James Library & Center for the Arts Presents Jazz Pianist Laszlo Gardony

The James Library & Center for the Arts, Norwell’s historic community arts center and lending library, presents Jazz Pianist Laszlo Gardony in concert on Saturday, January 27, 7:30 pm at 24 West Street, Norwell. The performance is sponsored by Campanelli and Gordon Atlantic Insurance.

Jazz pianist and composer Laszlo Gardony is “one of contemporary music’s truly original voices,” ~ Jazz- Times. He celebrates his soulful new solo piano album Serious Play with a concert featuring music from the recording, “Georgia On My Mind,” “Naima,” and “Over The Rainbow,” as well as his spontaneous, inspired improvisations which come from a deep well of emotion and intellect. A unique and unforgettable night of live music!

Hungarian-born Laszlo Gardony has delivered soulful improvisations and compositions to great critical acclaim in 26 countries. Winner of the Great American Jazz Piano Competition, Gardony has been called “a pianist worthy of praise within the highest pantheon of performers” by Jazz Review and “a great pianist” by Dave Brubeck. He has released 12 albums, including his sextet’s new live album, “Life In Real Time” featuring several musicians performing at this concert. He has been featured with the Boston Pops, the Utah Symphony and The Smithsonian Institute’s “Beyond Category” Traveling Duke Ellington Exhibit. A Bostonian for over two decades, he currently serves as a Professor of Piano at Berklee College of Music.
