The Inside Story - Boismortier Madness

Music at Eden’s Edge (www.edensedge.org), the North Shore’s own regional resident chamber music ensemble presents Music Speaks! The Inside Story, a free series of lecture/performances in the newly renovated Barn at Peirce Farm at Witch Hill in Topsfield, MA. It is a special privilege for MEE to be able to share with our audiences live music in an intimate setting. This season, we explore an added dimension with The Inside Story, revealing a deeper understanding of the music by sharing social and cultural context, special pieces of historical background, or quirky factoids about its provenance.

In Boismortier Madness, the second concert in the series, the charming duos of Boismortier sparkle, intriguing and entrancing us. We look beneath the surface of this music we truly love and ask “why do we love it so very much?” Unpacking the unique appeal of Boismortier’s duos for flute and violin will entail understanding their purpose and origins, comparison with other duo works, and singling out the personal satisfaction and chemistry which this offers for our performers.
