Charles Blandy and Linda Osborn: Swan Song

Charles Blandy, tenor and Linda Osborn, piano perform Schubert’s final collection of songs, Schwanengesang (“Swan song”). Schubert’s settings of the poet Rellstab are bracing and brooding, and the Heine settings are bitterly ironic, even terrifying. Also on the program is Rodney Lister’s Ordinary Heartbreaks, songs set to poems by Michael Blumenthal, which find sweetness within ethical, intellectual, and musical quandaries.
