Silent Film: Buster Keaton's "Safety Last"

Upon arrival grab a vintage soda pop and snack, and enjoy a lovely view of the sunset over Boston from the gazebo. Before and after the film we will have dancing to recorded music from various eras as time allows. It’s a time to connect with friends old and new.

“Safety Last” is one of Harold Lloyd’s best known films. We will have with live organ acompaniment by Jeff Rapsis, he’ll have us cheering for our hero, and hissing at the villains while we clutch our pearls as Harold is constantly on the brink of disaster. The story of “Safety Last” follows young go-getter Lloyd to the big city, where he hopes to make his mark in business and send for his small town sweetheart. His career at a downtown department store stalls, however, until he gets a chance to pitch a surefire publicity idea-hire a human fly to climb the building’s exterior. What could go wrong?

Light movie themed refreshments will be served, and the film will be followed by informal dancing to recorded music.
