Pianist Chi Wei Lo in concert on Friday August 9, 7:30 pm at NEC’s Burnes Hall @ the new Saint Botolph Building, 255 Saint Botolph Street, Boston. Program titled: “Dance of the Seven Deadly Sins” that include: Wrath: Liszt’s Totentanz, Sloth: Pärt’s Spiegel im Spiegel, Lust: Liszt’s Transcendental Étude No. 10 , appassionata, Gluttony: Debussy’s La Puerta Del Vino: (Wine Gate), Envy: Stravinsky’s Improvisations on Petrushka, Greed: Ornette Coleman’s Law Years, and Pride: Scriabin’s Sonata No. 9, “Black Mass “
Mr. Lo received numerous first prizes since his young age, including the Steinway, the NEC-Prep, the A. Ramon River, the Foundation Chinese Performing Arts Festival piano competitions to name a few. Along with standard repertoire, he has arranged songs from pop and rock artists and has received praises worldwide. After receiving BA, MM from Juilliard, he became a DMA candidate at NEC majoring in contemporary piano improvisation. During the summer of 2018, Mr. Lo received high praise for his interdisciplinary piano recital, “Declaration of Aesthetics,” which acts out the life of Vincent van Gogh. In addition, Mr. Lo was commissioned by the Taiwan Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation to write a composition, “For Kaohsiung.” He appeared in concerts, and awarded with the printing of Mr. Lo’s limited edition Metro card.
