“OtherWise” by Ilya Vidrin is a work-in-process Open Rehearsal, where audience members are invited to offer feedback after the performance with the artistic team as they continue to develop the piece investigating intergenerational trauma.
Shared as a work-in-process through the new Dancemakers Laboratory at BCA, OtherWise is a multidisciplinary performance production investigating intergenerational trauma through the lens of the Soviet-era bard movement. Drawing upon and interpreting the songs of iconic bards such as Bulat Okudzhava, Vladimir Vysotsky, Alexander Galich, and Yuri Vizbor, OtherWise fuses dance, music, and spoken word to illuminate a unique refugee experience.
