Noted violist Roberto Díaz—soloist, chamber musician, former principal violist of the Philadelphia Orchestra and the National Symphony, and member of the viola section of the Boston Symphony Orchestra under BSO Music Director Laureate Seiji Ozawa—is the president and CEO of the Curtis Institute of Music. He has premiered works by leading 20^th- and 21^st-century composers, including Krzysztof Penderecki, Roberto Sierra, and Jennifer Higdon, and can be heard on many recordings.
